About AVGS

Antelope Valley Genealogical Society, Inc. (AVGS) was organized in 1976.

Our purpose is to encourage an interest in genealogy, preserve genealogical materials, and assist researchers with their research techniques. AVGS is a non-profit organization. Donations are always welcome - cash, library materials, genealogy books and histories, or your time.

New!

See our new resource pages for free local and national genealogy resources. The local resource page includes links to area libraries that have national and world-wide genealogical materials.

Research Center

AVGS has opened its own Genealogy Research Center housing a growing library collection of over 600 books, periodicals, and CD-ROMs. The library also offers computers with a high-speed Internet connection and free access to Ancestry.com. We welcome everyone and will help them with their research. We offer genealogy workshops in the Research Center on certain Saturdays.

Looking for High School Annuals and City Directories

AVGS is looking for old Antelope Valley area High School Annuals and City Directories to augment our library at the Research Center. Read more.

Hispanic Interest Group Forming

We are forming a Hispanic interest group. If you are researching Hispanic ancestors from Mexico and the Southwestern United States and would be interested in joining, please contact Anthony Ray at 661-916-7676, or use this form. We would like to hold meetings to share information. We plan to bring in experts to teach low-cost classes in how to research Catholic records, civil records, and other topics of interest to Hispanic researchers. Please join this fun and informative group!

Meetings

Our regular meetings are at 7:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month, except for July and December at the Chimbole Cultural Center. The December meeting is held at the Leisure Lake Mobile Home Park. Please see our Calendar Page for details.

Lost and Found!
A group of old photographs were recently found in a dirt lot in Lancaster. Some of the names mentioned are Max, Helen, David and Kate Morgan. There is a postcard written from Max Morgan to his wife or girlfriend in Chicago. If you recognize this family, please contact us.
